What is the Belk call out policy? ›

Full time associates get 14 days of PTO, which goes to 19 at 5 years, and 24 at 10 years. But be aware if you call out (sick-with or without doctor's note doesn't matter) 3 times within a rolling 6 months you get written up. On the 4th, you are written up again. On the 5th you are terminated.

A call-out policy is a set of business guidelines that address incidents regarding employee absences, late shifts, or other instances when employees are unexpectedly unable to attend work.

“Calling out of work” doesn't refer specifically to a phone call. It means notifying your manager that you cannot fulfill your duties. You might be out for an afternoon if you begin feeling unwell at lunch. Or, you might need several days or even a few weeks to recover from a more severe illness.

A physical illness that leaves you unable to complete your job duties is the most acceptable reason to miss work. Mental health days and caring for sick family members can also be appropriate reasons to call in sick at some workplaces, but they may be frowned upon at others.
