Former NFL player from Altamonte Springs offers success tips to young athletes in new book
After hanging up his cleats, former NFL running back Tion Green had to figure out what was next for him and his career. "As a kid, I always wanted to play in the NFL," Green said. "I learned that NFL means ‘not for long.'"Green was once a bulldozer for Lake Brantley and transitioned to becoming a leader for the Cincinnati Bearcats before playing at the professional level. Fans will know Green as the hustler rushing in for a touchdown, but now his athletes know him as coach. "I think it's important for me to give back to the community,” Green said. "Because it’s serving your higher purpose for the youth. They are our future."Green doesn't want to just help athletes on the field though. He wants to help them off the field, as well, and he is doing that through his new book.Tion Green's Playbook to Manifesting Your Dreams taps into the guidelines the NFL preached to Green as a rookie. It's something he wishes now that he would have grasped more when he was active in the League. "It's a process every day," Green said. "This guideline in this book ... those quotes, tips and hints that I leave in the book is what keeps you on point and keeps you going."And even though it has taken some time for Green to accept his new role, he's hoping that with his new book he can continue to strive to be the best coach and motivator his athletes can have. "My personal goal at life is to remain at peace," Green said. “Helping another knowing that we're all connected as one and we're all family, forget about me. I love serving that higher purpose."
