How many times do you have to knock in search and destroy cyberpunk? ›

After escaping from Arasaka's clutches at the Redwood Market in Japantown, you are contacted by Goro Takemura. He has brought Hanako Arasaka to his safe house inside an Abandoned Apartment Building on Vine Street in Vista del Rey, Heywood, and tells you to knock four times on the door to safely get inside.

Once you reach the abandoned apartment building, head inside and follow the waypoint marker up the stairwell until you reach Takemura's hideout in room 303. As you reach the door, it is important that you knock four times, otherwise the door will explode. Now that Takemura has let you inside, speak with Takemura.

However, once you two get out your Relic will malfunction, and Takemura will suggest you two separate to have better chances. If you decide to leave Takemura, he won't play a part in the story anymore, but if you choose to save him, he'll show up during the epilogue of the Hanako-related ending.

It really only affects the ending known as 'the Devil' since he will be the one there to speak to you. Otherwise, he just has messages to V during the end credits. Takemura won't show up unless you deliberately choose to take Hanako's offer. It's good to have him with you, so I would say you should save him.

One must decide whether V wants the quiet life, sinking into serene obscurity, or go out as a legend. Thus, the happiest endings are either "The Star," where V gets a peaceful existence knowing they will die, or Cyberpunk 2077's secret ending, "The Sun," where V becomes the living legend they always wanted to be.

Take down the guards on the stairs and keep going up to emerge into the corridor that you originally went down to reach Takemura's room - where you had to knock four times on the door. Deal with the guards lurking in the corridor and the room itself, but get inside and you'll find Takemura safe and sound.
