Hi Sergey and all,

Here is an example of how important the Square of 9 tool can be. You can find examples like this happening almost every day. There are dozens of PDF books and documents free on the Internet talking about how to utilize the Sq9 and you have to read through several of them to condense your own methodology, since no one has come up with the definitive Gann method. He never wrote his method out for anyone that we know of.

But one thing was clear, the “squares” were of paramount importance and in the Sq9, that means the “corners”. It never ceases to amaze me how price is drawn like a magnet to these numbers. Here is an example from yesterday,

10-17-11 on the SPX: Again! On 10-18-11:

The question came up the other day regarding planet positions on the Sq9 grid. Here is briefly what I found:

Gann uses planetary longitude quite extensively, and essentially, this works out to Planetary Lines. By combining Planetary Lines with Sq9, we have the best of the 2 tools. I believe we need to have the planet positions in the Sq9 tool display lines according to the math, according to the longitude. This is how it is done in other software programs.

However, I am also showing an example here giving due credit to Sergey for the present design of his version as I found in the very example above, the Nep line acted as resistance and the Venus line acted as support, illustrated here:

The Venus line was pretty precise. The Neptune line is off, unless you consider the SPY (1/10th of SPX), as it went to 123.50.

But let’s take a look at the pure longitude in actual numbers, utilizing Planetary Lines. Again, as you would expect, Jupiter provided support and in this case, Neptune 2nd harmonic (180 degrees/opposition) provided overhead resistance:

Fortunately, both tools are already available in Timingsolution and can be used together.

Tools I use most every day!

Best regards,

Jim Ranum

Thanks Jim

I appreciate the write up.

I love the SQ9 and it does work best with planets
the more you use it the more you see ;)

Hello, Jim:

Good post. Thank you.

It may become a beginning of some mutual project for thisGroup.

Can you re-write your post with more details? It will be like aClass on how to work with Square of 9. I understand that it is not so simple asit may sound. But: other Group members will be able to try it, I will look at itas a suggested technique, program what can be programmed, then we all try itagain, and maybe we will come up with something good. What do youthink?

Best regards,

Sergey

PS. I am working hard on 64 bit version. Today I have tried 20years of price history for 1-min chart, with all astrology. Good news is thatthe new architecture of the program allows to download 100 years of history for1-min chart. I guess this will be enough for a while The only restrictions that Isee now are related to the computer speed, which is a resolvablequestion.

Sure, happy to help with this. There are a couple other things I can put in there that will help people start using it.

I would like to know more about how to utilize the dates that come up in this module myself. Other software versions have the dates around the outside in a circle. I don’t know how to use the dates the way they are in the grid.

Always more to learn.

No respectable Gann student can be without the Sq9 !!

Best,

Jim

Hi,

There must be some mistake in the planet's position on the Sq9, because:

Neptune now –in Geo- is at 1228, Uranus at 1231, etc… not as shown in TS SQ9.

Pls. check …

Thanks

Hi Gabriella,

Please refer to Sergey’s post from the 16th:

(This was the philosophical discussion on how to best handle the planets in Sq9 that started this thread)

Also, something I didn’t realize until recently, you can use the “Shift” number to swing the orientation of the planets around to whatever anchor point you think is best. But essentially, this module “overlays” the standard pie chart on top of the grid vs. using the actual numbers, as you would see with Planetary Lines.

Jim

Jim,

SQ9 works different way, it shows the real planetary positions overlay of SQ9 table:

Thus we can specify cardinal numbers 2-4-6-8 (0-90-180-270 degrees)

Or example below 8H numbers:

86- 0 degrees

91-45 degrees

96-90 degrees

etc.

Best regards.

Sergey.

hi Tay,

I'm interested in working together on TS. I hope we will have enough users to participate it.

What markets do you trade or research? I trade gold, silver, EURUSD, ES, & some stocks.

What's your trading timeframe? We got to have a common ground to start with.

Jim Ranum

Hi Jim,
From what I see the dates on the outside of the circle are where the Sun moves 15° through the Zodiac in other words from zero on the 21st of March the next date is 15° away on the 6th of April and so on, the only way I have any worthwhile use for dates in the square is if the 1 in the center has the date of a high or low in the same square which makes it very simple to find how many calender days it is to the next high or low or project forward 90, 120,or 180 etc days that means of course the date would include the weekends.
I have struggled to find how to create support and resistance in a TS chart from the square of 9 module, I have a program that made this very easy however with the new versions of windows it is impossible to load because of it's Dos base.
This is probably useless information but it may provoke some worthwhile thoughts on the Square of 9.

Regards Bob.

Always more to learn.

Hi Jim,
Here is a look at the S&P 500 using the low of 1068 on the 4th of October the latest high I can see in TOS is 1215.5 that can be seen in the square at 147 points up and the angle from that cell to the circle comes out at 146.5 days from the 21st of March this could be a fluke because I really have no idea how to use this tool to give price and time. This could very well be it but then the price would need to come off today, I will be looking to see when I awaken in the morning.
This software allows the planets to be on the square as well as the outer ring just to confuse the issue hopefully somebody can make some sense of it.

Regards Bob.

Hello, Group

I forgot to mention there is new feature:

Help->Screen Capture

It sends the whole screen into clipboard. Later I will improve this feature (to capture the screen area, to draw arrow).

Thus you can insert pictures into e-mail. So far it is available in Terra only, soon this feature will be available in all versions.

Best regards.
Sergey.
